It’s not necessarily desirable to have (or to be) a fair weather friend, nor a foul weather one. At the same time, there are seasons in life, dictated by distance, occupation, age, and any number of other aspects. It’s also not fitting to share all parts of your life with all people. Weariness is perhaps warranted though, when someone shows up only in crisis.
For me, I’m reminded: if they are a true friend, then I can be there for the good, the bad and the in-between. Likewise, when looking to make and preserve life-long connections, I’ll look not for the foul or the fair weather friends, but the anytime ones.
